About the Waytes
The Bildeston Waytes Carols is an annual event in the village of Bildeston in Suffolk. It is an evening of festive music making with an orchestra and choir who come together on the night with full audience participation.
Here you can read about how the Waytes started in Bildeston and how it grew from its beginings in the Crown Inn into the event it is today in the Chamberlin Hall. You can also read a bit about some of the people involved in organising the Waytes today.
In 2020, during the pandemic, the Waytes couldn’t go ahead as planned but was instead Live Streamed from the Crown Inn with no live audience and a small, socially-distanced choir. The broadcast was very well received and so we broadcast the Waytes Carols again the following year when we returned to Chamberlin hall with reduced numbers.
